NOTA voting option should not be applied to J&K: Taj Mohiuddin Jammu, Nov 9 (PTI) Claiming that the None Of The Above (NOTA) option in voting machine will strengthen separatists, Jammu and Kashmir minister Taj Mohideen today said the move should not be introduced in the state. The Centre should move the Supreme Court to prevent the implementation of NOTA in disturbed areas like Jammu and Kashmir and North-East, the Medical Education and Sports Minister said at a function here. The NOTA option will be misused by separatists in Kashmir -- It would only strengthen the hands of the separatists, he said, adding separatists will establish themselves by this process. Taj, who is a Congress MLA from Uri constituency of Baramulla district, said, I have written a letter to the Prime Minister and the Congress high command that the option of NOTA should not be applicable in Jammu and Kashmir, as it would be used by separatists in anti-election campaign. J&K-based mainstream political leadership particularly Congress and NC have been opposing the introduction of the NOTA voting option on electronic voting machines (EVMs) during the forthcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
