NOTE THAT I WROTE FOR A SUNDAY QUOTE: “OUT IN THE GREAT WIDE OPEN” I am my mother’s son, I am the seed of my father. I look like my father. I have temperament traits of both my mother and father. My children and grandchildren bare some of those same traits. From a quick sense of sarcasm to green eyes we are blood, we are family. However, I am my own man, I make my own decisions. And when I do so whether I rise or fall it is not the influence of mother or father that has caused success or failure. Whether they be good or bad; somewhere along life’s path one must recon with past influences and inherited dispositions and proceed beyond those parameters. “Out into the great wide open” said singer songwriter, Tom Petty. Once you proceed beyond those parameters the expansive canvas of life is fixed before you. The great wide open. To stay still is to be stupefied. To regress is destruction and slow death to all that you could ever hope or aspire to be. Your mental, spiritual and physical survival demands that you move forward at all cost. The canvas is set to be painted. Pick up the brush. I can’t paint you say, I was never taught. My parents were drunks not painters. My family have all been carpenters, I can’t paint. Out in the great wide open there is room for the painter, the carpenter, the brick mason, the cook, the house cleaner, the multitude of talents and skills that lies within each of us. If you remain locked into “what was”, and what you have settled for; you shall remain at the threshold of the never forging your way forward. The great wide open lies before you as a foreign land, a great unknown. The great wide open may be a great unknown, but as those who have gone this way before us have discovered the great wide open is a great opportunity. The Bible says there is a “Great cloud of Witnesses that have gone this way before us”. See the New Testament letter to the Hebrews in chapter twelve verses 1 & 2. What will you do? How long will you remain in the valley of indecision? How long will you languish in what you don’t know? How long will you blame what was, for what is? Don’t wait, rise up and move forward into the future. Hear the words of the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Philippians in the New Testament of the Bible chapter 3 verses 13 &14 “Forgetting those things which are behind me and reaching and straining toward the things that are out ahead of me, I press on toward the prize of the high calling of God In Christ Jesus our Lord”. May the Almighty God Have Mercy upon us all…….
