NOTES AND REMINDERS FROM THE PRINCIPAL This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday. Jesus entered Jerusalem as a King. However, by Thursday evening, Jesus was arrested and rejected by the people of Jerusalem. By Friday afternoon, he was dying on the cross. Since Jesus knew he would be leaving Jerusalem carrying a cross, no one would have blamed him if he had avoided Jerusalem altogether. But that is not how our Savior did things. Instead, he told his disciples that he MUST go to Jerusalem to suffer and die. He also taught his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” This is a difficult teaching for us. Denying ourselves is almost un-American! Jesus placed things in the proper perspective. The purpose of this life is to serve others so that they will come to know Jesus and live eternally. If this world has distracted you from your goal of heaven, repent! This life is temporary. Pray that Jesus would help you to stay focused on following him. Then you will have found your life!
