Several rainbows are being caught between the dam and Betty’s island while fishing flies in periods of no flow. Center Hill: Fishing is good. Water temperature is 62 degrees; lake is stable. Bass: Several smallmouth are being caught on topwater baits on the points early in the a.m. Several spotted bass are being caught while dropshodding and jigging spoons around schooling shad. Crappie: A few are being caught in sunken brush piles on minnows in 15 feet of water. Chickamauga Reservoir: Reservoir Conditions: Summer normal elevation: 682.0 feet. Winter normal elevation: 676.0 feet. Current elevation: 677.2 feet. The water surface temperature is 58 degrees. Largemouth Bass: Good. Frogs and buzzbaits near grass along main lake flats. Smallmouth Bass: Good. Jigs, crankbaits in the tailwaters. A few are being caught around bluff walls on the lower end. Spotted Bass: Good. Jigs, spinnerbaits, and small crankbaits mainly on the upper end along the main channel. Crappie: Good. Minnows, jigs near rocky river areas, docks and submerged brush. 3 to 15 feet target depth. Striped bass: Good. Mid to lower lake near shad minnows. Lipless lures, spoons and swimbaits. Shallow pockets or early in water leading to the same. Bluegill: Good. Worms and crickets around bluff walls. Sauger: Poor. Jigs tipped with minnows is the better option. Scattered reports with no consistent or impressive numbers. Catfish: Good. Shallow flats in creeks and the main river channel while using shad or bluegill. Dale Hollow: Water temperature is 59 degrees. Lake is falling. Smallmouth: Several smallmouth are being caught on jigs and minnows in 20 feet of water on points. Largemouth: A few nice largemouth are being caught on jigs and crankbaits in the rivers on channel banks. Crappie: Crappie fishing is fair in the rivers in laydown trees with minnows and jigs in 15-to-20 feet of water. Also, a few crappie are being caught in the grass near Willow Grove in 10 feet of water. Hiwassee River (near Reliance): River Conditions: The water flow has normal. Recent water temperature was in the 30’s mid-week at the Hwy 411 Bridge. Warmer weekend surely warmed the water. Trout: Anglers have caught quality rainbow trout up to 19 and 20 inches due to recent stockings of larger than normal fish. Brown trout and some brook trout have also been caught. Many anglers report more favorable conditions considering all factors. Streamers and wooly boogers have been effective. Parksville: Reservoir Conditions: Summer normal elevation: 829 feet. Winter normal elevation: 820 feet. Current elevation: 826.4 feet. Crappie: Poor. A few anglers caught few fish. Jigs, minnows. Bluegill: Poor. Spotted bass: Poor. Few anglers caught few fish. Most were deep. Drop-shot or top water according to conditions. Largemouth bass: Fair. Not great, but best thing going. Mostly upper end on plastic worms or crankbaits. Watts Bar Reservoir: Reservoir Conditions: Summer normal elevation: 740.5 feet. Winter normal elevation: 736.0 feet. Current elevation: 738.7 feet The water surface temperature is 59 degrees. Largemouth Bass: Fair. Most are being caught near the shad. Shallow coves late in the evening is the better area. Crankbaits and jigs. Smallmouth Bass: Jigs around deep secondary and main lake rocky areas. Walleye: Poor. Minnows or jigs sometimes in combination in the tailwaters along the bottom. Few trips with little success. Sauger: Poor. Minnows and jigs along the bottom in the tailwaters. Crappie: Good. Jigs, minnows around select docks, secondary brush, and rocky banks in the large creeks and main channel. The closer to the river the shallower the bite most of the time. Catfish: Good. Main lake while using shad or bluegill. Striped bass: Good. Late evening is better than early in the shallow secondary areas around the minnows. Mid lake is better than other areas. Lipless lures, jigs and spoons.
