NOW DECEMBER 4, 2013 Israel denies assassinating Hezbollah commander BEIRUT - Israel denied it had assassinated top Hezbollah member Hajj Hassan Houlo al-Laqis in Hadath overnight Tuesday. “Israel has nothing to do with this incident,” the Associated Press quoted Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yigal Palmor as saying Wednesday. These automatic accusations are an innate reflex with Hezbollah. They dont need evidence, they dont need facts, they just blame anything on Israel. Laqis was assassinated near his house in the Saint Therese area in Hadath, Hezbollah announced Wednesday morning. The statement also praised the victim as a “jihadist, a leader and the father of a martyr who was killed in the 2006 July war.” It added that the main suspect was “the Israeli enemy.” This enemy must bear full responsibility for and all the consequences of this heinous crime, it also added. A security source told NOW that the Hezbollah member was killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on him when he was inside his car – a green Jeep Cherokee - in the parking lot near his house.
