NOW: Feminism is often criticized and misunderstood. Can you give us your definition of "a feminist collective"? Yasmine: By feminists, we mean individuals who are committed to gender justice and equality. Feminism is a political framework that looks at the intersection of oppressions through a gender lens. In short, we work to challenge patriarchy, which is a system that gives privileges to men, masculinity, heteronormativity, whiteness, and nationalism. And because one cannot do feminist work alone – it is in its essence a collective endeavor – we have a feminist collective.
