NOW JANUARY 29, 2014 Berri: National unity cabinet necessary for presidential elections BEIRUT - Speaker Nabih Berri said in remarks published Wednesday that the formation of a national unity cabinet was necessary to conduct the elections for a new president. “A cabinet that gathers all parties paves the way for presidential elections… Those who want for the presidential elections to take place in time have to seek for… a national unity cabinet,” Berri was quoted by An-Nahar newspaper as saying. Berri also noted that a neutral cabinet would not even make it to the parliament to receive confidence votes. “A neutral cabinet would not reach the parliament and would not gain its confidence.
