NPR, eh? Sold out to the Koch brothers. David Anderson -There was an interesting interview on NPR yesterday evening with David Brooks of the NYTimes & another journalist (name?) about judicial activism (as the right is wont to call it) and the democratic voice of the people. I was surprised that not once did any of the three participants mention the civil rights era. It is unimaginable that we would be where we are today if the public had made decisions by referendum about desegregation rather than the courts! Brooks, of course, wanted all the progress that has been achieved on gay marriage rights to be evidence of elitist lawyers from elitist law schools forcing their own trendy ideas on an unwilling electorate. Would he say the same for the 1960s?? (This is a great example of right wing brainwashing via media, BTW.)
