NRI looted by beggars in Posh Sarabha Nagar Market LUDHIANA: A NRI woman from New York became the victim of begging menace in the posh Sarabha Nagar market on Sunday as more than half a dozen literally snatched her purse containing thousands of rupees. Police is yet to register a case into the matter but say that they have received the complaint from the victim and the case will be registered. Giving details, Dr Mukta Mahajan, of SBS Nagar, relative of victim Lakhbir Mahajan of New York in United States of America, At around 1.15 pm we came out of a bakery shop in Sarabha Nagar and around 7-8 beggars started following us. Before that I had given some money in packets to children of my relative and she kept those in a packet in her purse. As the beggars started making pleas for us to donate something we didnt respond much and then they surrounded us. After that we dont know when they took away a cash bundle of Rs. 26, 300. Later as they started to flee from the spot we rushed some security guards of market and drivers towards them but they disappeared in lanes and by lanes. Relative of the victim said that it is really bad that beggars brought bad name to the country through their bad deed.
