Picture: BALJEET SINGH IT was a rare opportunity for many people in the Western Division to catch a glimpse of rugby league superstars and former Fiji Bati reps Lote Tuqiri and Apisai Koroisau during the Social Democratic Liberal Partys office opening in Lautoka yesterday. The duo, currently playing for National Rugby League franchise South Sydney Rabbitohs, showed their support for SODELPA at the party meeting. Party leader Ro Teimumu Kepa welcomed the rugby league stars and said support for the party in the Western Division was overwhelming. Speaking to the villagers gathered at the Namoli Village hall, Ro Teimumu said SODELPA expected to form a stable administration in partnership with the Fiji Labour Party and other like-minded parties. Instability will not come from SODELPA, she said. We will be the stabilising force in Fiji. She also urged the villagers to think before they voted. This election is without a doubt the most important Fiji has had. Every one of us has a responsibility to use our votes wisely, not just for ourselves and our families but our precious motherland, Ro Teimumu said According to Ro Teimumu, people in Fiji have had enough of coups. Coups never work. They create havoc and suffering and unleash the dark forces of human nature. People are physically abused and killed by those who take over a legally elected government by force of arms. All coups destroy economies, many full and part-time jobs are lost, incomes slashed and domestic pressures rise. Poverty increases as ours has to more than 45 per cent. Life is lived in a climate of fear and oppression. We offer a Fiji remade, a Fiji of freedom and prosperity where the coup culture is banished to where it belongs. The new office will be the base of SODELPA operations in the Western Division and is located corner of Tukani St, Lautoka.
