National Secular Forum (NSF) took out a Strong protest against Central University Jammu to express dissatisfaction over the functioning of the Central University; VC has adjusted his relatives as Consultant and Officers on Special Duty (OSD), in utter violation of set norms. Addressing gathering here today, NSF President Sukhdev Singh said that VC has made University as his personal fiefdom, where all laws were either violated or tailored to give benefit to relatives of University. Terming Central University Jammu as rehabilitation center for relatives and close ones of Vice Chancellor, Singh said that after the lapse of three years since CU was approved; same has been working from three rented buildings, plundering the exchequer brazenly. “Instead of establishing its own infrastructure, same is running from three hired buildings viz-a-viz two at Trikuata Nagar and one at Sainik Colony”, he said, adding that moreover buildings of some relatives of VC were hired with a purpose to benefit them. “According to CUJ norms, the maximum age for post of DSW is 62 years but he is 65 years of age, which is clear violation of law and that too illegally as the post was not advertised”, Singh rued. Sukhdev further said the varsity has become a rehabilitation center for retired and corrupt officials. He also said that favoritism galore in the Central University of Jammu. Leaving aside the appointment of over-aged persons as faculty members, the family members and the relatives of the varsity officials have been appointed on coveted posts in utter violation of University Statutes. As per the Central University Statutes, the serving officials should not be above 65 years but the administration has recruited some teachers who are above 65years,” he said. In the process, all deserved candidates were ignored. Criticizing the violation of rules and rehabilitation of relatives of Vice Chancellor, NSF president said that VC has adjusted his relatives as Consultant and Officers on Special Duty (OSD), in utter violation of set norms. Singh further questioned about the credibility of the CUJ in absence of the latest updates of its workings, plans, calendar, Appointments, and all other information on its Website. He alleges that only CUJ is running on the grounds of no information to the General Public on its Website in India.“We fail to understand the silence of the organizations which fought for local person as the first Vice Chancellor of the university Jammu had got this prestigious institution after long struggle and no corrupt official should be allowed to ruin this institution,” NSF leader said. He appealed President of India to intervene in the matter and initiate a CBI probe, to unearth the biggest illegal recruitment racket in CUJ. Among those who were present in the protest included, Barket Ali, Qayoom Malik, Azaj Shah, Papinder Singh, Rishikesh Rana, Vikram Madhyal, Amit Sanotra, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Pawan Kumar, Anees Charak, Sanjeev Kumar, Javed Iqbal,Narinder Singh, , and others.
