NSIBIET JOHN, WROTE: NSIBIET JOHN To: "akwaibomglobal@yahoogroups" ; "ibomchronicle@yahoogroups" ; "talkhard@yahoogroups" Sent: Saturday, June 15, 2013 10:56 AM Subject: [talkhard] 2015 And That foiled imposition in Akwa Ibom Disturbing thoughts have continued to emerge ever since political stakeholders from Uyo Senatorial District converged on R&R located along IBB way to speak on the 2015 gubernatorial election and what role the senatorial district will play. As one of the most distinguished and political active senatorial district in the state, one would not have expected that the senatorial district will play a lesser role. It is very correct to mention it here that the senatorial district will have a major say in who emerges the governor of the state after Akpabio in 2015. So this means that whoever is interested in getting victory at the end of the day should count this senatorial district. Any such politician, statesman or whatever nomenclature a potential aspirant may want to be identified with, should go into a marriage of convenience with this senatorial district. The senatorial district can boast of influential political mathematicians. Before the coming of democracy in 1999, this senatorial district had produced all the indigenous leaders of the present day Akwa Ibom State and they completed their dominance upon the return of democracy when Arch. (Obong) Victor Attah took the mantle of leadership and judiciously executed it jealously for eight years. Names of political heavy weight in the area are numerous and these persons control their own in the little enclave they have carved for themselves. The political story of Uyo Senatorial District is interesting. And very interesting indeed. This is altogether one senatorial district that equally has one ethnic nationality, the Ibibios unlike Ikot Ekpene which has the minority Ibibios and the majority Annangs in it. Eket senatorial district has more ethnic nationalities. And so, it is always easy for Uyo Senatorial District to explain that an interest of Uyo Senatorial District is the interest of Ibibio. But at the same time, that explanation is an error, only a propahanda wiped up by fear- fear politicians. Now back to line, it is evidently clear that ever since the R&R meeting at IBB way, the senatorial district has been completely polarized. The district now has exposed the cracks that were being hidden and it is obvious the 2015 war has also hit the district hard. No matter how the stakeholders of the region will try hard to explain, the people understand better. But I still wonder that just where matured minds are, some people could sit somewhere and cook a notice in the name of communiqué just to present to learned people. Do the perpetrators of that act understand that they would have put the state on fire if they had even brought out the hoax of a communiqué? Why adopt a person in your room just because you want to score a cheap political point? Let us not deceive ourselves, in Uyo Senatorial District, any stakeholders gathering that is not all encompassing, all embracing and holistically accepted is a ruse, fake and tantamount to a gathering of few minds that belong to one group. A stakeholder is one who has a stake, one who can point to a direction and the rest will follow. One who is the leader and commander of men. For instance in Uyo local government in the PDP we can say that ex-commissioner for Economic Development Dr. Chris Ekong is a major stakeholder, Enobong Uwah is also and by extension they are also stakeholders of the senatorial district. In Ibiono Ibom, Bassey Albert Akpan is a major stakeholder. Now Akpan’s political clout spans throughout the state. Love him or hate him, don’t take that away from him. He has appeal, the crowd and the links. This is quite interesting because during the said stakeholders meeting, some persons wanted to sideline some. Why Bassey Albert did come there late? Why was the PDP at the senatorial level not deeply involved? Why was there an already prepared communiqué that was never released officially to the gathering? That communiqué only leaked to a cross section of the press who has to go to press with it. There are lots of questions that need answers here. So many faults were spotted in that gathering. But Bassey Albert came to the rescue. I will explain. Going by what was noticeable at that gathering, it was quite very clear that the plot was to impose the aspiration of the secretary to state government Obong Umana Okon Umana on the people. A plot that collapsed terribly flat. I am sure the Uyo senatorial district Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Barr Dominic Okon would not have loved the attempted imposition of Umana on the people. This is because he would have not had answers to the questions his kinsmen would have asked him back home in Ibiono Ibom local government especially as it is becoming an open secret that the state finance commissioner Bassey Albert Akpan is eyeing the Hiltop Mansion by 2015. The point is why did fanatics of Umana Umana hatch such plot to ensure the nicodemus anointing of Umana and bar others from Uyo senatorial district? Overtime, I have argued that Umana Umana’s ambition is not that of Uyo Senatorial District or that of the Ibibios. Umana Umana’s ambition is borne out of a personal ambition to dictate for Akwa Ibom people. If you doubt me, why was there a nicodemus plot to anoint him and bar other prospective aspirants when it is even very clear that he does not enjoy the mass appeal expected of a potential aspirant even in Uyo senatorial district? I have always said, let’s get to the field. Let proponents of Umana Umana sell their candidates the right way. Let the right thing be done and the people of the state will decide for themselves. Yes like they have argued, Umana Umana, nice gentleman, intellectual of the finest cut, a bureaucrat and technocrat, an engineer of uncommon transformation, engineer of digital government, name them, non partisan and all of that. Umana’s proponents say the SSG has all it takes to take over from Akpabio, they argue that he enjoys appeal and all of that, well, yes, but prove it beyond dashing money. They failed. It was very timeous Bassey Albert arrived when he did to halt the ready-made-communiqué that would have created more enemies for some people. It is wrong to have a consensus candidate at this point. It is not a wise and intelligent political step. This game is for the mindful not for the mindless. Rushing to get endorsements has never helped and it won’t help. There are some other players from Uyo Senatorial District that are interested in the contest so picking one now will mean unintelligencia on the PDP hierarchy in the District and it would have meant the beginning of an end of the beneficiary of the obnoxious consensus arrangement. The God of justice is watching. Nsibiet John Uyo,Aks MERELY POSTED BY ME
