NSS Day was celebrated by National Service Scheme of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore. The celebrations started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the Chief Guest Lion.Mr.D.Lakshmikanthan, secretary of Lions club R.S.Puram, Coimbatore. A welcome address was given by Programme Officer Mrs.N.Kavitha, who gave a brief overview of the National Service Scheme in India. Former NSS Chairman, Prof.K.Manoharan HoD/CSE enlightened the NSS Volunteers with his valuable thoughts and experiences as programme officer. In all 200 NSS volunteers registered with NSS Units undertook a NSS pledge to uphold the prestige of National Service Scheme and strive to maintain tolerance and sacrifice. The chief guest delivered the key notes on social awareness among the students. He kindles the social responsibilities among the young hearts of students. He motivated the students to develop their skills, personalities and character. He motivated them to work together to help the needy and to maintain the environment neat and clean. He suggested them that NSS is one of the source from which they can spread the message of Brother-hood, National Integration, and Social Services to work together during natural Calamities. He wishes them all the best for the future activities in NSS for the overall development of the society. Various NSS Volunteers spoke on NSS and performed cultural activities on the occasion. The programme was organized by Dr.R.Kesavasamy, NSS Chairman and the Programme officers Mrs.N.Kavitha and Mr.B.Mariappan. The function was concluded by vote of thanks by the Programme officer Mr.B.Mariappan.
