NSW/ACT Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds and blizzard conditions for people in the Illawarra, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts Issued on Wednesday 14 August 2013. Weather Situation A rapidly moving cold front is expected to cross the southern parts of New South Wales today, bringing gusty, strong to gale force winds mostly to the elevated terrain in the southeast. Damaging winds with peak gusts over 90 km/h are forecast to develop on Wednesday in the Illawarra and elevated parts of Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts. Blizzard conditions are possible tonight for western parts of the Snowy Mountains forecast district. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Keep clear of fallen power lines. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
