NTFL ROUND 15 PREVIEW: BY - JACKSON CLARK It shapes as a terrific round of NTFL action across three days this long weekend. Nightcliff take on Tiwi Bombers in the first match of the round at TIO Stadium. The Tigers returned to the winners list last week with a victory of Waratah, which should give them some much-needed confidence heading into the latter stages of the season. But they face a rampant Tiwi Bombers who are arguably the form side of the league at the moment. The Bombers are playing the brand of football that saw them win a premiership a couple of seasons ago. Ross Tungatalum and Dion Munkara have been in fantastic form while Mathias Liddy has been a revelation up forward. Tiwi embarrassed the Tigers a couple of weeks ago, with Liddy causing plenty of damage with ten goals. But there’s no doubting the competitive streak of coach Damian Hale and he will be hell bent on ensuring his troops get the four points. Top of the table St Marys will face a strong looking Buffaloes outfit in the second game at TIO Stadium. The double blues will be missing a couple of its prime performers but welcome some more than handy inclusions. None bigger than AFL legend Andrew McLeod, who will play his first game in Buffaloes colours in over two months. Nick Stockdale and Matt Campbell are two other important players making their return while Toshie Kunoth will play his first game for the club. The Saints have been in devastating form as of late but will certainly not take a talented Darwin side lightly. Southern Districts and Palmerston shapes as an intriguing contest on Sunday afternoon at Norbuilt Oval. The Crocs have been disappointing as of late but Will Farrer and Troy Taylor’s return to the forward line should straighten the side up when going into attack. Palmerston has its own worries with the forced omission of Leroy Jetta through suspension and the unavailability of Aaron Davey and Cameron Cloke. The Magpies refused to give in after a slow start against St Marys last week but will be hoping for a more switched on opening quarter this week. It is hard to see Districts losing two in a row at home but there is no denying the talent of the Magpies side. This match could go down to the wire. The Australia Day clash between Waratah and Wanderers is always a big event on the NTFL calendar. This week’s match should be no exception with the Warriors desperate to break its 13-game losing streak. Jesse Aish and Luke Harder are two massive inclusions for Waratah and you cannot underestimate the influence that these two former SANFL players could potentially have on the outcome of this match. But Wanderers were impressive last week and are in that group of clubs that need to keep winning to book a finals berth.
