NUGGETS FOR TODAY Fear, The Tool Of The Enemy! Have you ever been plagued with a Spirit of fear? You are not the only one, because it is common to all of us. Many times we feel that we are the only individuals facing these problems. Our situations are different, but the problems are the same. Where does fear come from? When did fear first begin? Many people are fearful or afraid of many things. Afraid means to be filled with fear or frightened. Fear means a feeling of alarm or disquiet caused by awareness or expectation of danger; a state of dread concern; to be afraid of or to be apprehensive. Afraid was first mentioned in the Bible in Genesis Chapter 3. Adam and Eve had disobeyed God. They had sinned by taking of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 3:7-10 “And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” We are told that about eighty-five percent of the things we worry about never happen. If that is the case where does fear come from? Fear is a tool that is used often by Satan. Many times we respond to the out-of-the-ordinary acts of God among His people with fear. Fear hinders us from finding His perfect will for our lives, and it can also keep us from His presence. We are afraid of the unknown. There are many truths in the Word of God that are unknown to us. Many times as God begins to reveal these things to us, a Spirit of fear grips. We do not want to be wrong, and because of fear we don’t go deeper in the Word of God. We are also afraid to obey His Word. The fear that grips us was present in Jesus’ day. In Luke Chapter 8 the people witnessed miracles and were overcome with fear. One such case was in the deliverance of a demon possessed man when Jesus commanded the demons to come out of the man and go into the herd of pigs. Luke 8:37 “Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.” Why are we fearful? We fear because we haven’t ever experienced this in our lives. Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” Jesus removes Himself from us when we fear, for He will not remain in a place where fear resides. Sometimes we fear hearing the voice of the Lord, or allow the Word to speak to us. The reason being that He might require something of us, or ask us to do something that we do not want to do. Subconscious fears will prevent us from growing in God or going to a deeper level in Him. I would like to ask you a question, what in your life is not worth giving up for the Lord? What commandments in the Word of God are not worth obeying for the Lord? He gave His life for you, why would you not want to fully obey Him? Have A Blessed Day In Jesus! Pastor: Virgil Gibson
