#NUTSHELL – July 1st — HEALING NEEDED – 1 Peter 2:24: Everyone needs healing because everyone is born into sin. In addition, in this fallen world people face hurts, hang ups, habits and traumas. We are broken by the sins of others as wells as our own. Sin tears apart relationships and scars wholeness in life; when broken people are alienated from others and God, evil involved. The result is not only a profound inner emptiness, but also keeps others at a distance, needing and trusting becomes too risky. The more we are broken and wounded the more isolated from others we can become. Broken and wounded people need healing that comes from a renewed relationship with God and with others. When we can’t do it alone (we can’t) then we have to depend on God to do it in us. Therefore, we can boast not about being healed, but about being weak enough for God to use. God’s work of healing is not always to take away our wounds rather His work may simply be to enable us to join with Christ in His suffering and to glorify Himself through it. We may ask God to heal and rejoice if He does so. We may also rejoice, however; when He chooses instead to use our weaknesses as a platform to deploy His grace and power in our lives. Through difficulties we may bring help and hope to others who are suffering in the same way. We can then point them to our Savior. Through our wound recovery testimony others may be invited to make an appointment with the Great Physician, Jesus. These verses will encourage: “Jesus bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins might live for righteousness by whose stripes we were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). “For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10). The healing that Christ is offering each of us today is from the inside-out. The blood of Christ cleanses us from all our unrighteousness.
