NW DISTRICT USES PUBLIC RESOURCES TO PREPARE FOR BDP STAR RALLIES North West District Council Secretary, Mozondiki Moswete, has admitted that his council used its equipment to clear an area that will be used by the BDP for its star rally to be addressed by President Ian Khama tomorrow in #Maun. Moswete told Gabz FM news that contrary to complaints from some that the move is an abuse of state resources for the BDP, it is within the council’s mandate to provide for such services when the head of state visits. He said this is done entirely to prepare a habitable space for the president as he attends the event. A council grader and a water bowser were for the past three days seen clearing the area where the star rally will be held, prompting a lot of questions and concerns from some members of the public as to why council would assist the BDP. Meanwhile a BDP member of the central committee and party’s deployee for the North West region, Abel Molelo told Gabz FM news that government resources should always be at the disposal of the president wherever he goes. Molelo says the constitution provides for these benefits for the president, noting that the use of a council grader and a water bowser to prepare an area where a BDP star rally is just normal. UDC parliamentary candidate for Maun East, Osimilwe Fish told Gabz FM news that the use of council equipment to prepare an area for the BDP’s star rally was a clear sign of abuse of state resources by the BDP. He said it also shows that the playing field between the BDP and opposition parties is not even. He noted that the ruling party used state resources to its advantage. Khama will tomorrow address two star two rallies in Maun and West constituencies respectively.
