NW PACIFIC - Final Warning Issued on Tropical Storm Halong At 0300 UTC today (10 pm EDT on Aug 9) the Joint Typhoon Warning Center issued its final warning on a weaker Tropical Storm Halong. Halong had maximum sustained winds near 50 knots. It was centered near 35.1 north and 134.7 east, about 110 nautical miles east of Iwakuni, Japan. Halong has moved to the northeast at 13 knots. There are no other tropical cyclones expected in the northwestern Pacific, but this storm will be watched for possible regeneration.
