NW PACIFIC - Typhoon Rammasun Makes Final Landfall in Southern China On July 18 at 8 p.m. EDT (July 19 at 0000 UTC) Rammasun was located near 21.9 north and 108.1 east, about 134 nautical miles east-northeast of Hanoi, Vietnam. Maximum sustained winds were still near 100 knots. Rammasun was moving to the northwest at 15 knots and is expected to dissipate over land in the next couple of days, creating flooding in its path. Rammasun just made landfall just north of the Vietnam/China border and is expected to weaken to a depression in 24 hours. **This infrared image shows two areas of strong thunderstorms (red) in two areas near the Vietnam/China border. It was captured by the VIIRS instrument aboard NOAA-NASAs Suomi NPP satellite today.
