NY WAR Z “I can’t believe it,” he muttered. It’s been only four hours since it happened, but the entire school population was lost. Just one bite, and then it soon spread like wildfire everywhere, people jumping into people, classmates attacking each other, and almost the entire school population was now part of the Undead. Keyword: almost. The President and his friends were now stuck in a level five classroom, locking themselves in before anyone who contracted the virus attacked them and transformed them into one of the Undead. E had tried to call the police, but because she had squealed “ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES EVERYWHERE!” in her ear-piercing voice right into her phone, the police refused to believe her “cock-and-bull story designed to get her out of JC’s deadly lectures”, that she was “lucky because they were not going to press charges to give her a chance”, and hung up on her. “I’m sorry,” she bowed her head in front of the President. “That was screwed up.” “It’s okay,” he replied. “For now let’s just focus on preparing for our trip to the science labs to retrieve all those samples in the pathogen storage vault.” He walked to the board. “Has everyone finished preparing?” “Almost,” Y answered darkly. H walked up to the board and took over. “So our current plan now is to make our way down to level 3, walk past the hall and MPR to reach the science labs.” “We can’t go by the bridge near the staff room?” J asked. “Nope. The metal gate was closed when trying to block the Undead, and there are too much teachers in the staff room and students in the library anyway.” H continued. “However, the CCA block isn’t that safe either. It’s also full of the infected.” “How many people are in the MPR?” N piped up, wide eyed and trembling. “The entire Judo team.” The President sighed. “As long as we get past that, it’ll be better though,” H called out, hoping to mention the more optimistic view. “There weren’t as many people in the Science Block when it happened. We just have to reach the storage lab near the middle.” She drew out a map. “And get the samples in the pathogen storage vault and the vaccines. The theory is that if we inject ourselves with the samples and get infected, the Undead will ignore us because we aren’t healthy.” “We can do this!” S called out. “I managed to grab all the utensils from the canteen!” “We can wrap magazines around our arm and legs in case anyone tries to bite us,” W suggested. Everyone rushed to work, and when everything was done, all of them gathered at the door. The President looked at X, giving her hand a tight, reassuring squeeze. “Stay close to me.” X stared back at him, nodding her head. “We’ll be fine,” she whispered. The President then turned to look at the team assembled. “Guys, remember. As little noise as possible, they’re attracted to sounds. Is everyone ready?” Everyone nodded. “Alright, let’s do this!” And he opened the door. Notes: - Based and inspired by World War Z. Story and plot doesn’t belong to me, this is just a “World War Z NY Version”. - World War Z was awesome (though I did lose several years of my life due to the well-timed jump scares) - Any resemblances to anybody is purely coincidental, this is just a work of fiction created by a nutter with an overactive imagination. - Nothing here is to insult or offend anybody but if I accidentally end up offending you, I apologise in advance. - I also hope that you will pardon me for any grammar mistakes, misused words, the ridiculousness and the obvious loopholes in the story (why the heck is there a pathogen storage vault in the school’s labs?) but well, it was fun writing this. - Hope you enjoyed it. Thank you!
