NYAKO, FINTIRI IN FRESH ROW OVER IMPEACHMENT Former Governor Murtala Nyako Former Governor Murtala Nyako and former Acting Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, have disagreed over the course of action that led to the sacking of the acting governor from office. Nyako had through his spokesman, Ahmad Sajoh, issued a statement congratulating Governor Bala Ngilari over his victory at the court saying Ngilari’s victory is a testimony to the illegality committed by the House of Assembly under the leadership of Fintiri in the process of impeaching him. “This is a further testimony to the fact that the entire process associated with the purported impeachment saga had been just series of acts characterized by extreme illegality and political brigandage”, he said. The former governor expressed confidence that the legal victory was an indication that he would be reinstated by the court, saying “the process of the reversal of all the series of illegalities connected with the supposed impeachment saga has only just commenced and will continue until it culminates with the return of Governor Nyako to Government House, Yola” Fintiri in a swift reaction by his press secretary, Solomon Kumangar, accused Nyako of ‘unprovoked attack’ on the legislative arm of government. Kumangar insisted that the legislators had given Nyako enough opportunity to defend himself which he squandered by refusing to answer to the allegations against him by the Assembly or appear before the 7 man panel set up by the state Chief Judge, insisting that Nyako was consumed by his disdain for the legislature and judiciary. “I must make it abundantly clear that the impeachment process that led to the ouster of the former governor followed due process and was completely guided by the constitution. The state legislature exhausted all available avenues for conflict resolution before resorting to its last option, which was impeachment. Those shedding crocodile tears and using propaganda to blackmail the state legislature are engaged in a baseless and futile action
