NYE 2013/14... Remembering that concert on new years eve in Ash Arambol !! MONKEY TEMPLE live in Full effect. We had made just two prior concerts together and I was feeling nervous. The idea had been to read from my writing books. I was slowly finding my voice but it was something new for me. The memory of that night will never fade. It was an explosion of music so amazing.. it lives with me forever. It was advertised as a full power dancing party and so we were asked to play all our stuff upbeat and with a high energy, and thats how it happened. We had a really good sound check and the sound engineer did a difficult job extremely well. Seven of us on stage. Myself on vocals sat center stage with Raphael on harmonicas and jews harps, Mat sat to his left on the guitar and rubab, Theo to my right on space drum and percussions, Roland amazing on beat box and Taras on bass stood behind us at the back, Madav on sax and flutes it was incredible, really like the best moment of my life, pure magic, fantastic energy and the music just went through the roof so high. I remember walking with Raph to beside the stage and the anticipation of what would come next, we felt it strongly, our mood was enhanced, we hit that stage and it was lift off. It was like we were sailing on that stage and Raph was the captain and we all looked to him. He sailed the ship around the world and back through his fantastic music. I was whooping and a hollering into the mic wow this thing was amazing and the audience were responding, the energy was raising higher and higher. At one point I had them all singing a melody like a superhero theme tune that Mat and Raph had written.. an amazing happy song just two chords gives me tingles all through my whole body when I hear it now. The harmonicas blazing out through the the bass and beatbox..DEEP .. Madav is like racing with Raph they are flying around weaving in and out of each other, lifting each other higher and higher like a race .. Madav is keeping up in a magic dance with the harmonica spurring raph on .. and the sax is dancing in the lead, Raph come on ! ! I turn to my left centre stage, and I just gaze with tears in my eyes.. squatted there sadasana, a huge beacon of music.. like a diamond.. just blinding pure and bright, my best friend in the universe, man I love you so much. bro !! just sat there utterly SMASHING IT on the harmonica. The Gambard kicks in deep and primal and its just full power .. the whole place is in trance, I am in trance as he turns to me between songs I describe the scene to him its really good raph wow ! everyone is buzzing he beams and says its a very good way bro wow YES ! ! - AMAZING BRO !!
