NYPD HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER SAVES A LIFE. PO ZAKOSCIELNY ASSIGNED TO HWY 1. READ THE STORY AND WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW. On Wednesday September 17, 2014 at 3:20 p.m. PO Gregory Zakoscielny assigned to Highway 1 was conducting speed enforcement on the Bronx River Parkway and East Gun Hill Road when he observed a 2014 Ford Taurus operated by a 49 year old female pull in front of him in the right lane and stop her vehicle. PO Zakoscielny exited his vehicle in heavy traffic and observed the driver of the vehicle having difficulty breathing. The officer asked her if she was choking and she responded yes sir. He then instructed her to get out of the auto and to place her hands around her chest. PO Zakoscielny then performed the Heimlich maneuver and was able to dislodge a throat lozenge which was blocking her airway. VIDEO CREDIT: NYPD
