#NYPDLIVESMATTER I’m a NY’er. NYPD keeps me safe every day, and while I’m frustrated by the acts of a few officers in a few incidents, I’m a NY’er, NYPD is and will always be “NY’s Finest.” Consistent with my promise earlier, I am persuaded, having reviewed multiple sources and reports, that at least to some extent, the shooter in Stuyvesant, Brooklyn deliberately targetted police, and whether he just added on hashtags for #EricGarner and #MikeBrown, or whether he actually was motivated by revenge is irreleavent to me. Whether one agrees injustice on the part of police exists in reality, all should agree that, in the abstract, injustice on the part of the police is not remedied in any way by assassinating police officers execution style. To think otherwise is lunacy. To think race doesn’t play a role in this conversation and to bury one’s head in the sand ans pretend a national conversation doesn’t need to be had is lunacy. To draw equivalence between lying in wait in cold blood and shooting innocent people with whom you have had no interaction and deaths resulting from excessive force is lunacy. Whatever you believe happened in the Garner and Brown cases not a shred of evidence exits either involved officer woke up that morning and decided to go hunt for black men to kill. In my view, the Garner officer should have been indicted, he wasn’t. Let me say clearly, NY’ers havent faced an officer death from a firearm (according to reports) since 2011. If there is anyone on the planet who thinks NY’ers will stand idly by and support people blantatly assasinating our police officers, they haven’t met many NY’ers. This isn’t about politics. This is about two officers who were denied the right to go home at end of shift for whose families we pray, and one young woman who did nothing wrong other than date the wrong man. Let’s keep our eye on the ball.
