NYSED’s insistence on releasing confidential student data proves - TopicsExpress

NYSED’s insistence on releasing confidential student data proves the Assembly correct in passing the O’Donnell bill (A.6059) – now stalled in the Senate – prohibiting the release of personally identifiable student information without parental consent. New York correctly seals youth’s minor criminal records but now wants to release sensitive records, including childhood mistakes, which could jeopardize a child’s future. I hope the Supreme Court sees that NYSED has no legal authority to invade student and family privacy. I hope the Senate passes A.6059.
