ATIKU BETRAYED US BY BACKING AN ASPIRANT IN THE ACP PRIMARY --TSALA One of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Sunday’s primary election in Adamawa State, Yakubu Tsala, said yesterday that he feels betrayed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for not keeping to his promise not to back any of the candidates. The governorship aspirant who spoke to our reporter on telephone yesterday said he has been an Atiku political associate for over 30 years despite vehement opposition to their association by his people. He noted that he has never for once left Atiku in all his political life and has participated and even represented him on many political platforms and meetings which according to him is a proof of how close he has been with the former vice president. Tsalla said his disappointment stems from the various pronouncements and promises made by the former Vice President to remain neutral and treat all the aspirants on the same level without showing any preference for a particular candidate. “To my surprise despite all the promises made, Atiku was the person who bought form and drafted the candidate into the race. However the candidate also lost like I did. But I am not happy with the betrayal meted to me by Atiku because if there is any candidate that he should support I should be the one because I always followed and kept my part of the bargain to him and I have never betrayed him all these years,” he added. Media aide to the former vice president, Paul Ibe, however denied the allegation saying Atiku did not support a particular candidate in the primary stressing that Atiku kept his promise by treating all the candidates in the same manner.
