We have all heard from time to time in the last 7 years about his post graduate studies in law and in particular about his notorious thesis in which he concluded that ; the Fijian Cultural Autonomy must have a SUNSET CLAUSE. In simple terms ; his thesis advocates and recommends that Fijian cultural, traditional and chiefly systems and structures must be ended. In the past 7 and 1/2 years we have seen arbitrary decrees and regulations which progressively and systematically eroded or completed displaced the Fijian cultural, traditional, and communal identity. I draw your attention to acts & omissions of an unelected and self imposed AG who over the past 7 years implemented institutionalised decimation and weakening of the Fijian way of life and existence to achieve the objects of the SUNSET CLAUSE. 1. Abolishment of the GCC 2. Removal of the GCC nominees to the NLTB Board via the 2010 NLTB Amendment Decree (see Rajendra Chaudhrys post on Native land) 3. Removal of the right vested with the Provincial Councils to elect its Chairman to manipulate nominees to the NLTB Board and giving that authority to Fijian Affairs Minister (Bainimarama) 4. Creation of a Land Bank 5. Oppression of the Methodist Church and its Leaders. 6. Removal of Ratu Sukuna Day as public holiday. 7. Common Citizenry imposition without consultation with all the people of Fiji 8. Secular State imposition. 9. Fijian Traditional Title (Ratu, Adi, Ro) prohibited from being included in Birth Certificate of indigenous Fijians. 10. Political Parties banned from having Fijian names like SDL. Undoubtedly, the combined effect of all of the above culminates into the SUNSET CLAUSE. Comments please.
