#NaNoWriMo update and excerpt: 37,837 words. Not nearly as many today and I didnt count the 2K I added in revision yesterday. Im getting close, though. My demon Thanksgiving story is going okay. I wish I was writing faster. Anyway, heres an excerpt from today--shes dragging the demon guy to her familys house for Thanksgiving and hes pretending to be her fiancé: “Well, it’s just that I’m not wearing a ring—which they’ll expect so we’ll say I lost it.” “Oh, I’ve got that covered.” He’d thought of that when he was quickly packing a bag. Pulling the ring from his pocket, he held it up. “Won it in a poker game.” The emerald-cut diamond with its surrounding sapphires suited her. “You won this in a poker game?” She held out her hand for him to put it on, and he hesitated. He should probably warn her that if she wore something a demon had given her, he’d be able to “read” her—her moods, any dark thoughts she might have, and visit her in her dreams. He’d have some power over her. On the other hand, it might be the only way he could figure her out, and it’d never bothered him before. He slipped the ring on. Copyright © 2013 by Wendy Sparrow
