Nabarlek formed in 1985 with two busted acoustic guitars and upturned flour tins for drums in the tiny community of Manmoyi in central Arnhem Land. Having toured extensively throughout regional and remote Australia Nabarlek are now legends in the bush. Their music reflects the strong traditional beliefs and customs of the rock country people. They love inspiring new generations with their performances and workshops. Led by Terrah Guymala, the driving force behind the band’s desire to be a part of the Australian contemporary music industry, Nabarlek’s vision is to create artistic and economic opportunities for the band, their families and their community. Nabarlek have has performed with Yothu Yindi, supported Midnight Oil and played with Silverchair and Powderfinger on their national tour. As well as remote tours across Australia in 2004, 2008, 2011 and 2013 they have also toured nationally and internationally. Nabarlek are brought to you by Sand Tracks, Country Arts WA’s remote Indigenous contemporary music touring program. Operating for five years, the Sand Tracks program profiles an Aboriginal headline act and an emerging band from the central desert region of WA, SA and the NT touring through remote communities of the central desert delivering performances and workshops
