Nachos Anaya went to work at the Moderno Restaurant in Piedras Negras, (which still uses his original recipe) safter which he opened his own restaurant, Nachos Restaurant, in Piedras Negras. Anayas original recipe was printed in the 1954 St. Annes Cookbook. This particular dish took off like a tumbleweed in heat spreading through the Southwest. In fact, in 1950 the word nacho popped up in the cookbook A Taste of Texas Howard Cosell further fanned the flames of fandom with his sportscast from Texas where a modified version of the nacho (using gunky cheese sauce) was being sold as ball park nachos. During a Monday Night Football game, Cosell multi-mentioned his enjoyment of these nachos - and things took on even more... weird, eh? Crisps and cheese.... whoda thunk???
