Nadaswaram is probably the coolest carnatic music instrument,however we all have been conditioned to believe that Nadaswaram is essentially a a Mangala Vadiyam - Meant to be played only at religious functions and temples. This is not true,there have been in the past concerts that were played all through the night and a single raga played for a couple of hours(my grandfather had a story or should i say multiple such stories of concerts at the Delta Region of Thanjavur).
