Nadia Swanepoel, a transgender woman has had enough of Home Affairs, she has decided to go on hunger strike to protest the gross inaction and mishandling of her Act 49 application.Gender DynamiX has issued a press statement in support of her. We urge all transgender persons to tweet about this injustice #NadiaHungerstrike. I am tweeting about it now as we speak @BusisiweDeyi. Tweet to Home Affairs and expose this incompetence. It is time we stood up to them on all social media platforms. It is time we made them understand that the struggles of transgender people are not to be silenced. We need to stand behind Nadia because her act of defiance has the potential to have a ripple effect and improve the issue.
