Naga man allegedly kills wife in Tezpur KOHIMA, OCT 29(NPN) In another horrifying incident, one Naga man was arrested for allegedly killing his two-month pregnant wife at Tezpur October 27 last. The body of the victim reached Wokha Wednesday. The accused identified as Orenthung, son of Longsachung village, serving as lance corporal in Assam Regiment - EME Group Army stationed at Tezpur, has been arrested and kept under the custody of military police at Tezpur. Reportedly the accused claimed his wife’s death as suicide, however, severe bruises sustained on the victim’s body made relatives suspicious that the victim was murdered. The accused reportedly admitted he beat up his wife, however, claimed that she committed suicide later. The family members have filed FIR with Wokha Police station Wednesday appealing the police authority to verify the post-mortem and ascertain the exact circumstances of victim’s death and book the accused as per the section of law. The victim, who was married to Orenthung for eight months, haile from Mekokla village. Meanwhile, Wokha police informed that post-mortem has been done by Tezpur police while the Army has assured them to hand over to the police as Police Tezpur were also investigating the case. Informing that they were keeping in touch with both Army and Tezpur police, Wokha police said the FIR would be forwarded to Tezpur Police after completing necessary formalities. The police also confirmed that the victim bore huge brutal injury marks all over her body. ------ LVC, WCSU condemn ‘murder’ Longsachung Village Council (LVC) and Wokha Circle Students’ Union (WCSU) have strongly condemned the alleged murder of late Rukholo, daughter of Nchubomo Ezung, by her husband Orenthung Shitiri (Assam Regiment - EME Group Army), son of Fubemo of Mekokla Village. Stating that no word was strong enough to denounce the “terrible crime”, LVC chairman Zuchio Ezung, through a press release, strongly urged the responsible authority to take note of the incident seriously and award befitting punishment to the accused as per the law. LVC stated that such “wicked act” would not be tolerated under any circumstances and accused would be solely held responsible. Failure to take immediate action by the competent authority, the Ezung said LVC along with Longsachung village students’ union and Longsachung youth organization would take own course of action and would claim no responsibility whatsoever happened subsequently. Expressing deep anguish over the incident, LVC conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. WCSU: Wokha Circle Students’ Union (WCSU) condemning the alleged murder of late. Rukholo Ezung said such gruesome and barbaric crime committed by husband has to be condemned by one and all. In a press release WCSU president Chanbemo Humtsoe also urged the responsible authority to seriously take note of the terrible crime committed and award highest punishment to the accused. WCSU also expressed deep pain and conveyed condolences to the victim’s family and prayed departed soul rest in peace. ~Nagaland Post
