Nairube wants to shine on local scene After winning the Golden Gloves at the OFC U20 Championship, Fiji U20 stopper Misiwani Nairube is keen to shine on the domestic scene. The 18-year-old from Vatukarasa in Nadroga played his first super premier match for Ba yesterday and stood tall in their 3-0 victory over Nadi. Speaking to FijiLive, the Kamil Muslim College seventh former said through the blessing of his family and the courage and strength given to him by the almighty, he was able to deliver his best for Fiji at the regional competition which also served as World Cup qaulifier. I give all credit for the glory to the Lord all mighty. He guided us through. It was his will to see us win. I want to thank my mum and family as well and my uncle Isikeli Seva for motivating me always, he said. My aim now is to do well in the National League and local tournaments and after playing my best game for Ba yesterday, my confidence level has really gone up. I was in the OFC Champs League squad but did not get any game. Now that I have been given a chance, I will give my best in training and will try to get a place in the starting team. We have good keepers in Ba but if I give my best then I should get my chance as well, he added. Nairube was in doubt for Fiji after injuring his wrist but a remarkable recovery saw him play in the matches against New Caledonia, PNG, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands. He won the Golden Gloves award after conceding only three goals in the championship. Source : FijiLive
