Nakakagigil na pangyayar..sana mahuli ang mga ganyan! Another hardworking OFW became a victim of Ipit taxi gang a few days before the New Year when he boarded a World Taxi unit at the corner of Ortigas and ADB Avenues; losing his cash, balikbayan box containing gadgets and goods, jewelry, as well as his travel documents. In a report on 24 Oras on Tuesday, the OFW, who was identified as Arnel (not his real name), said he boarded a World taxi unit having plate number RSN 968, but was robbed afterwards by the cab driver with an accomplice riding a motorcycle. He narrated that, after turning at Meralco Avenue, the taxi appeared to have bumped into a motorcycle. He said he thought it was really an accident, after which the cab driver removed his seat belt and he thought the driver was going to berate the other driver [of the motorcycle]. But then, the motorbikes backrider went to his side of the taxi and opened the door. Arnel said he knew there and then it was going to be a holp up. Upon reaching the Cubao area in Quezon City, he was pushed out of the vehicle and then they sped away, leaving him nothing. Arnel, an aircraft mechanic hailing from Nueva Ecija, laments the loss of his valuables which included P100,000 worth of jewelry, P200,000 cash, a balikbayan which contained four designer bags worth a hundred thousand, three iPhone 5S smartphones, imported chocolates and canned goods. But more than those, he is feeling so downcast and helpless with the loss of his travel documents and aircraft engineer license which were inside his traveling bag. He was supposed to get married with his girlfriend and was in the process of attending to his papers to go to Canada this January. He is appealing to the suspects to return, at least, his important papers. Reports say that the Eastern Police District is now looking into the incident, and have likewise brought to the attention of World Taxi. However, the company denies owning a Kia unit or any car with the RSN 968 plate number, which was reportedly already verified by the Land Transportation Office. Meanwhile, an image of the cab driver has been drafted according to the OFWs description. The public is hereby warned to be more cautious and wary of this kind of modus operandi.
