FACTORS TO CONSIDER RECRUITING FOR A WAITER Waiter is very important and also dependable part of a restaurant services, because of resturant shows as a service provider, not only provide food. A standard quality waiter can not only retain his/her current customer but also increase the market share by creating new customers. As a customer, if we go to a restaurant we not only think about the quality of food but also serving time of food, cleanness of room (in the hotel room service provider), attitude, behavior, knowledge of a waiter. So a waiter must have some qualification, that are discuss in bellow. Skills: Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Service Orientation — Actively looking for ways to help people. Speaking — Talking to others to convey information effectively. Social Perceptiveness — Being aware of others reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Coordination — Adjusting actions in relation to others actions. Know menu. Up sell, up sell, up sell. Volunteer for extra shifts. Regulars will save as on slow nights. Do one thing at a time. Respect the customers personal space. Always be clear about order. Remove the plates, glasses, and other used items from the table as they are finished. Be polite in the face of irritable, difficult and unfriendly customers. Abilities: Oral Comprehension — The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Oral Expression — The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Speech Recognition — The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person. Speech Clarity — The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you. Stamina — The ability to exert yourself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath. KNOWLEDGE: Customer and Personal Service Mathematics English Language Sales and Marketing Computers and Electronics Communications and Media Telecommunications, Production and Processing Educational Requirements Though there are no specific educational requirements to become a waiter or waitress but most places prefer a high school diploma or a General Education Degree (GED).
