Name the three states of matter. Solid, liquid and gas. The fourth state is PLASMA. Examples are neon/fluorescent tubes, flames/fire, sparks, lightning, stars, interplanetary, interstellar and intergalactic space, and more. (To read about a fascinating garbage incinerating device, look up plasma gasifier!) Now then, solids can exist in two (primary) forms, when talking about pure substances (single, discreet molecules). There is CRYSTALLINE and AMORPHOUS. Glass is an example of an amorphous substance. Most everything else exist in crystalline form. Frozen water, sugar, salt, etc. There seems to be a common (false) perception that there is a difference between crystals and powders. Grind and pulverize crystals like granulated sugar enough and it becomes so fine as to be seen as powder. But they are still crystals if you view through a microscope! (So the term crystal meth, that seems to be common among ignorant users and ignorant everyone else, is redundant.)
