Name your favorite childhood movie is the day 29 Sept. challenge question and Im assuming that it means a sort of childhood themed film and not so much our fave movie we loved as kids, since my pick would have probably been a Universal or Hammer horror film, but staying in the assumed spirit of the question hands down Id say Wizard of Oz, as doubtless some of you will as well. When I was a kid pre VHS or DVD Wizard was once a year on tv, every March. And I never missed it except for one year when wed gotten home from a long drive that day and forgot about it and I cried when I realized Id have to wait a whole year again to see it! (And my older evil brother knew I was missing it and laughed at me when I cried, but thatll be one for the memoir.) It was a great film filled with magic and wonder and all about carrying a youth far away to a land of enchantment and I spent much of my childhood longing for that twister to visit my house. The only disagreement I have with the film is the ending--Id never want to leave Oz! Runner up: The original The Secret Garden. -- Im looking forward to all your responses to this question.
