Namibia Host Oil, Gas Conference Windhoek — A two-day oil and gas conference has begun in Namibia where delegates from across the African continent deliberating on the challenges of the industry. It is the second such conference. The delegates are discussing challenges associated with the industry on a downstream level. Although the organisers have not yet released vital information about the discussion points in the conference, Amanda Well-beloved of Global Pacific and Partners, which is also participating at the conference told this journalist that the conference was expected to deliberate on the way forward for the oil and gas conference in the country. “Today (Monday) we are not yet open for the media but delegates have already started their deliberations on the various issues in the industry and are expected to continue till the end of the day tomorrow,” she said. The oil and gas conference comes at a time when Namibia is developing a gas power plant in the Walvis basin and is also exploring for oil in their coastal area. There are more than seven companies exploring for oil in the Namibian basin and these include shell and Brazilian HRT. (CAJ News Agency)
