Naming ceremony for Regal Princess includes TV stars of ’70s, ’80s Actress Florence Henderson will be among TV stars from the ’70s and ’80s at the naming ceremony for Regal Princess Nov. 5 in Fort Lauderdale. The guest list Princess Cruises has put together for its Regal Princess naming ceremony Nov. 5 in Fort Lauderdale reads like a Who’s Who for ’70s and ’80s TV. There will be famous TV moms like Mrs. Brady (Florence Henderson of “The Brady Bunch”); Mrs. Cunningham (Marion Ross of “Happy Days”); and Mrs. Barone (Doris Roberts of “Everybody Loves Raymond”). And some TV kids of yesteryear too: Christopher Knight, Peter on “The Brady Bunch;” MacKenzie Phillips, Julie on “One Day at a Time;” and Kristy McNichol, Buddy on “Family.” Nighttime soaps will be represented by Charlene Tilton, who was Lucy on “Dallas;” Joan Van Ark, Valene on “Knots Landing;” and Lorenzo Lamas, Lance on “Falcon Crest.” Also joining in the celebration: Charo, Loni Anderson, Joyce DeWitt, Jamie Farr, Pam Grier, Jack Jones, Diane Ladd, Carol Lawrence, Rich Little, Lee Meriwether, Don Most, Tracy Nelson, Frank Sinatra, Jr., Dick Van Patten and Adrian Zmed. The common thread here is that all of the above made guest appearances on “The Love Boat” series. The original cast of that paean to romance on the high seas will be the godparents of the the new ship: Gavin MacLeod (Captain Stubing); Fred Grandy (Gopher, the chief purser); Ted Lange (Isaac, the bartender); Bernie Kopell (Doc, the ship’s doctor); Lauren Tewes (Julie, cruise director); and Jill Whelan (Vicki, the captain’s daughter). Master of ceremonies will be Tori Spelling, actress and daughter of “The Love Boat” producer Aaron Spelling. The TV show, based on the non-fiction book “The Love Boats,” written by Princess cruise director Jeraldine Saunders, was filmed primarily on Pacific Princess and Island Princess.
