Namwamba: Fresh ODM polls to be held in 45 days Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has said his camp is optimistic the bungled ODM party elections will be held within the next two months. Mr Namwamba, who is fighting for the partys Secretary Generals post against nominated senator Dr Agnes Zani, said that a repeat election should be held in less than two months after the initial one was disrupted as chaos erupted in Kasarani during the voting process. (READ: Chaos at Kasarani as delegates disrupt ODM elections) “We expect that fresh elections will take place in the next 30 to 45 days,” said the legislator. He also affirmed that the party is still united and that the ODM’s transitional team has been proceeding with its mandate well without any form of discontent. The party will be working as a team to ensure that ODM wins the Bonchari and Starehe parliamentary seats which are currently vacant. He requested ODM affiliate parties not to filed candidates during the by-elections in order to increase the chances of success for the party. Further, the legislator, who was in the company of other party members in his camp, accused the Jubilee government of using the wage bill debate to try and scuttle the Constitution so that the country goes to a referendum. “There is no crisis like wage bill, this is a creation of the Jubilee government,” said Mr Ababu adding that efforts to alter contents of the Constitution will meet maximum resistance from CORD partners. Mr Namwamba was speaking at a Nairobi hotel during a meeting to strategise on a number of issues ahead of the anticipated ODM elections.
