Nana Addo will congratulate Mahama if the Court verdict favours him – Nana Akomea The Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea has reiterated the party’s commitment to the peace of the country and has anticipated reciprocating congratulatory messages between the two parties after the Supreme Court verdict. He said “if the verdict on the election petition endorses the December 9 declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC) as regards results of the 2012 Presidential Elections, the NPP and its 2012 candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will go to the Flagstaff House to congratulate President John Dramani Mahama”. “And if the Court says Nana Addo won, we expect John Dramani Mahama to come to Nana and congratulate him,” he added. He made this statement at the grand finale of mentor season VII. Nana Akomea noted that when justice reigns, peace prevails. He promised that if the Court’s ruling takes parties to a re-run of the 2012 Presidential Elections, the NPP will run a “decent and competitive campaign”. The petition was filed by Nana Addo, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, his running mate, and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey on December 28, 2012, seeking the Supreme Court to nullify over four million votes cast on the 2012 general election. They claimed the election was fraught with numerous anomalies leading to the victory and declaration of John Mahama as President. The Supreme Court has however; set Thursday, August 29, 2013 to announce the verdict on the case.
