Nanima I have just left clothing Store where I attempted to - TopicsExpress

Nanima I have just left clothing Store where I attempted to return a boys jacket for a refund, within 3 days of purchase. I provided proof of purchase as well as the item tag in place and was promptly informed of their no refund policy. This was then pointed out to me on the till slip, which I had obviously not noted at the time of purchase. I queried it and questioned whether it is in line with The Consumer Protection Act. The manager was then called who merely re-iterated the company policy. I tried to persuade him otherwise as I am not a regular shopper at the store and so an exchange voucher would do me no good. He refused to budge. On principle, I refused to accept a voucher, and on company policy he refused to provide a refund. I then left the store, leaving the item of clothing with manager as it will do no good to me because it does not fit my son. He made no attempt to stop me, or come after me. So now they have R199,00 item. What gives them the right to hold anyone ransom to their store? To force people to get a voucher instead of receiving a refund. Grossly unfair policy. What can I do?
