Nanu Thanksgiving weekend of 2011 we went to a dog auction in MO. They were auctioning off nearly 300 dogs, about 75 of them Yorkies. We were hoping to get the old ones and the ones that were terrified. Toward the end of the auction, a tiny Yorkie girl that I was determined to get came on the table. She was splayed on her stomach with a dull look in her eyes that just tore me to pieces. She had given up. Once again, I was bidding against the Amish so I ended up with her for $300.00. That night we took her in the motel and she was extremely lethargic. We checked her mouth and all of her teeth were black and her mouth full of infection. She was 3 years old. It was touch and go for 3 weeks before she started eating on her own and over a month before she gained about a pound and we felt comfortable getting her spayed. She weigh 2 pounds when we got her and she was up to nearly 3 pounds. Once again, Doc opened her up and found evidence of several home done C sections and she was full of infection. It was about 4 months before she asked to be picked up and I knew the worst was over. She loved to snuggle and within a few months had actually found her bark. She just wanted to be wherever I was so she was by my side while I was sick last year and she was the first one we lost. She died nestled next to me and I didn’t even know it for a couple of hours when Chris came to get her to feed her. We so miss her sweet little face but we know she had 2 wonderful years as the cherished companion she was meant to be.
