Naomi Wolf Demands that the Jerusalem Post Censor My Column By - TopicsExpress

Naomi Wolf Demands that the Jerusalem Post Censor My Column By Rabbi Shmuley Boteach I had a surreal night last night. As I was getting ready for a medical procedure I had to have done in the morning, I started receiving emails from the staff of the Jerusalem Post that Naomi Wolf had launched a campaign with her Facebook followers to silence my column about her monstrous allegations of an Israeli genocide. She threated legal action and demanded that the column be pulled down. It is available here. jpost/Opinion/Is-Israel-guilty-of-genocide-in-its-war-against-Hamas-374951 I had to immediately respond and call upon my many readers around the world who love and support Israel, and want to see freedom and democracy in the Middle East, to stop her attempts at censorship. Naomi has spent the last few hours having her and her supporters issue threats of libel against the Jerusalem Post. I find it astonishing that a woman that is engaged in one of the greatest modern blood libels, fraudulently accusing Israel of genocide against the Palestinians, is now accusing others of libeling her. It appears that Naomi is allowed to do untold damage to the reputation of the world’s only Jewish state and a people who experienced the world’s worst genocide just 70 years ago. But the moment you defend Israel she cries “Wolf!” (pun intended). She did so with The New York Observer, and now with The Jerusalem Post, complaining bitterly to each publication for allowing my responses to her libels to be published. Let us recall that Naomi did not libel an individual but six million Israelis. Let us also recall that the blood libel has been the fundamental source of anti-Semitism, Jew-hatred, Jew-murder, pogroms, expulsions, and inquisitions, for more than 2000 years. By any standard Naomis accusation that Israel is guilty of genocide is fraudulent, libelous, monstrous, and would be nearly comical if the charge against Jews were not so historically murderous. I call upon all people of goodwill, and all my readers and friends around the world, to stand up strongly for Israel against Naomis blood libel. Please write to Steve Linde, steve@jpost, to protest any press capitulation to Naomis attempt at censorship. Please also write directly on my Facebook page about your support for those who defend Israel and your opposition to those who would participate in fueling anti-Semitism through some false charges of the genocide. Finally, Naomi and I have been friends for a number of years. Although with her attempt at censoring me in my own twice-weekly column in the Jerusalem Post and having my column taken down she has made this dispute very personal, I reject personalizing it and I want to publicly invite her to my house with her children for Shabbat dinner as they came before. Are you free this Friday Naomi? We’re hosting the immediate past Chief Rabbi of the Israel Defense Forces whom I’m sure you’d like to meet. I greatly look forward to my debate with Naomi on 20 October where I plan, in the most professional manner possible, to utterly destroy and eviscerate Naomi’s fraudulent blood libel against Israel about a genocide against the Palestinians, one of the most horribly anti-Semitic charges I have heard in my lifetime.
