Naomi has been pretty good overall; however, the last few days - TopicsExpress

Naomi has been pretty good overall; however, the last few days have given us some hiccups. Shes had increased episodes of gagging, watching and holding her breath as well as spuratic episodes of terrifying screaming. She is undoubtedly experiencing some sort of unexplained and undeniable pain as she is screaming with so much force, she goes horse. During these times, her heart rate goes up and her sats drop. Tonight she had an episode that dropped her sats into the 30s. It took her a while to recoup from this and she not only had her nasal O2 upped but she also required additional help via blow by high flow O2. These episodes tax her so much that she literally falls fast asleep directly after. Theres no settling down and drifting off, no...its like someone flips a switch and puts directly into a REM state of sleep. Her heart rate goes down and her sats go to petfect numbers once shes asleep. Its all so bizarre. Her team of docs have run labs, done xrays, ultrasounds and echos, but nothing is showing its face. Its so frustrating not having answers. Her entire team does such a phenomenal job trying to provide us with answers, but, just as with her sudden unset of hypoglycemia and then her worsening hypoglycemia, she continues to be a little mystery baby. At this point, all that can be done for her is to give her pain meds when these episodes crop up. We are currently waiting to see what meds shes able to get given that we are only six days away from surgery. Please continue to keep us all in your prayers. We need the following six days to be as uneventful and germ free as possible. Oh yes.....and, Naomi has figured out how to blow saliva bubbles now. Its the cutest thing. And, she sported her Ohio State socks and red and gray flower headbands for tonights game :)
