Masterson The smother parent (mother or father) creates a spoiled entitled child, a child-like parent (mother or father) wants to be taken care of (parented) him/herself (the child is emotionally neglected), a mother/father whos neglected by her/his partner may use her/his child as a surrogate partner. What all these situations cause is an emotionally, age- and phase appropriate neglected child. These patterns are often passed from generation to generation, and its hard to estimate the relative contributions of genetic and environmental causation. PS Sometimes being a narcissist is hard-wired, meaning that even the best nurturing wont change the outcome.
