Narendra Modi Chief Minister Gujarat and Prime Ministerial candidate of BJP said that Sardar Patel should have been the first Prime Minsiter of India. In an appropriate tinge Prime Ministerial Manmohan Singh said that “he was happy to be part of the Congress to which Patel belonged” – “He said that Patel played an important role in uniting the country and recalled how Patel used to refer to the people of all religions as his friends. He called him secular and added that he was one of the greatest leaders in India. Prime Ministerial Manmohan Singh has proved that he is not the type to be provoked by run of the mill references. It is unfortunate Anand Sharma, Commerce Minister reacted in an uncalled mode befitting for the occasion. He should have taken into consideration that the event was in reminiscence Sardar Patel and not Narendra Modi, who also belongs to India not just Gujarat like Narendra Modi.
