Narendra Modi Government Cabinet Ministers and their portfolio in 16th Lok sabha • Narendra Damodar Das Modi - Prime Minister. Narendra Modi is the 15th Prime Minister of India and 2nd Prime Minister of BJP Government. He is the first non Congress PM with full majority. • Rajnath Singh - Minister for home affairs. He is the core member of Modi group and has been elected from Lucknow as MP. He will be holding 2nd position in the Ministry as Home Minister. • Arun Jetley - Minister of Finance and additional charge as Minister of Defence and Minister of Corporate Affairs. Finance Ministry was almost confirmed but he has been awarded with two most powerful and important Ministry. He contested from Amritsar in 16th Lok sabha election but lost to Capt Amrinder Singh. He is a Rajya Sabha member. • Sushma Swaraj - Minister of External Affairs and overseas Indian affairs. Since Sushma Swaraj was expected to be a PM candidate when Modis name was not announced and had always opposed the decision of making Narendra Modi to present as PM candidate within the party but gracefully accepted once the decision was made. She met Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh and if sources are to be believed, she herself refused to take any Ministry and has had expressed her desire to be Lok Sabha speaker. Though Lal Krishna Advani wanted her to be in Cabinet and finally she agreed to be Foriegn Minister or Minister of External Affairs. She won 16th lok sabha election from Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh. • Nitin Gadkari - Minister of Road/surface Transport, Highways and Shipping. He won lok sabha election first time in 2014 from Nagpur and is close to RSS. He got a big portfolio of combination of two ministries. He is another core member of Modi group. • Smriti Irani - Minister of Human Resource Development. Though she lost but dared to contest against Rahul Gandhi from Amethi in 2014 lok sabha election and gave a tough contest. She is said to be very close to Modi and is a Rajya sabha member from Gujarat. • Ravi Shankar Prasad - Minister of Law and Justice and Minister of Communications and Information Technology. He is the Rajya Sabha member from Bihar and an advocate by profession. He got exactly same portfolio what Kapil Sibbal had in UPA Government. • Dr. Harshvardhan - Minister of Health and Family Welfare. Delhi assembly election is way ahead but Dr. Harshvardhan at present will be absorbed in Modis Ministry as Health Minister. He is an ENT surgoen himself and can know about Health issues of the Country. He won lok sabha election from Chandni Chowk beating Kapil Sibbal. • Sadanand Gowda - Minister of Railways. He won from Bangalore North, Karnataka in lok sabha election with massive margin. He was ex Chief Minister of Karnataka. • Najma Heptulla - Minister of Minority Affairs. She is the lone Muslim face in Modi Ministry and is a Rajya Sabha member. She contested election of Vice President but lost to Mr. Hamid Ansari earlier. She is grand daughter of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. • Maneka Gandhi - Minister of Women and Child Development. She is the lok sabha MP from Pilibhit after winning 2014 election. She got the cabinet rank for the first time. • Radha Mohan Singh - Minister of Agriculture. Another cabinet minister from Bihar. He won lok sabha election from Purvi Champaran. • Venkaiah Naidu - Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Minister of Parliamentary affairs - He is popular figure and a Rajya sabha member from tamil Nadu. • Ananth Kumar - Minister of chemicals and fertilizers - He won from Bangalore South, Karnataka 6th time beating Nandan Nilekani this time. • Uma Bharti - Minister of Water Resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation (Abhiyan) - She won from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and got a responsibility of ganga abhiyan one of the key promises which BJP made during election campaign. • Kalraj Mishra - Minister of Micro, small and medium Enterprises - A very senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh who also was cabinet Minister in UP Government of BJP. He won from Deoria, UP. • Gopi Nath Munde - Minister of Rural Development, Minister of Panchayati raj and Minister of drinking water and sanitation - Countering Sharad Pawar Gopi Nath Munde from Maharashtra can be made Agriculture Minister. • Thawar Chand Gehlot - Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment - He is considered as a link between BJP and RSS being close to RSS and has been given Cabinet berth. He is a Rajya sabha member from Madhya Pradesh. • Juel Oraon - Minister of Tribal Affairs - He won from Sundergarh, Orissa and belongs to tribal class and always fought for development of Sundergarh. • Narendra Singh Tomar - Minister of Mines, steel and Minister of labour and employment - An MP from Madhya Pradesh winning prestigious Gwalior seat in 16th lok sabha election got cabinet rank combining three portfolios. Among the alliance partners the cabinet rank ministers are. • Ram Vilas Paswan - Minister of consumer affairs, food and civil supplies - He is LJP president and got 6 lok sabha seats. He himself won from Hazipur, Bihar. • Ashok Ganapathy Raju - Minister of Civil Aviation - He is an MP from Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh from Telugu Desam party. • Harsimrat Kaur Badal - Minister of Food Processing Industries - She is wife of Sukhbir Singh Badal and is from Shiromani Akali Dal. She won lok sabha election from Bathinda lok sabha constituency, Punjab. • Anant Geethe - Minister of Heavy Industries and Public enterprises - A Shiv Sena MP who won from Raigad by a very narrow margin and got cabinet berth from Shiv Sena quota. Strangely one important name Amit Shah is missing, a person who has been working without break in Uttar Pradesh and can be given credit for the huge success there. As sources reveals Amit Shah will still be on work and he may be brought to Delhi in by election from Vadodara but his focus and task will remain Uttar Pradesh for assembly election which will be in 2017. Amit Shah will remain as General Secretary of BJP and will strengthen the party in UP. Narendra Modi led NDAs Ministers of State with Independent Charge in 16th Lok sabha • Piyush Goel - Minister of Power (Independent), Minister of Coal (Independent), and Minister of New and Renewable Energy (Independent) - He is treasurer of BJP and played a key role in social media campaign which was one of the most effective method to connect to voters. He is a Rajya sabha member. He got independent charge of three major portfolios. • Nirmala Sitharaman - Minister of Commerce and Industry (independent), Mos Finance, MoS corporate affairs - After Sushma Swaraj, she is the second female spokesperson of the party and a Rajya sabha member. She is from Kerala. • Prakash Javadekar - Minister of Information and Broadcasting (Independent), Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Independent Charge), MoS Parliamentary Affairs- He is from Maharashtra and at present neither a lok sabha nor a Rajya sabha MP. After Pramod Mahajan he became a popular figure in Maharashtra. • Rao Inderjit Singh - Minister of Planning (independent), Statistics and Programme Implementation (Independent Charge), Mos Defence - He joined BJP after quitting Congress just before election and won from Gurgaon lok sabha seat. He was one who demanded CBI inquiry of Robert Vadra land case. • Gen V.K. Singh - Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (Independent), Mos External Affairs and overseas Indian affairs. He retired from Army and joined BJP and got elected from Gaziabad, UP beating Raj Babbar. • Santosh Kumar Gangwar - Minister of Textiles (independent), MoS Parliamentary Affairs and MoS Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation - Another very senior leader from UP. He won lok sabha election from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. • Sripad Yesso Naik - Minister of Culture Culture (Independent Charge) and Minister of tourism (Independent Charge) - Being from Goa he got the responsibility to improve tourism of India. He was elected from South Goa and is supposed to be very close to Manohar Parikar, CM of Goa. • Dharmendra Pradhan - Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas (Independent Charge) - He is a Rajya Sabha member from Bihar, though he belongs to Odisha, thus we can see both these states having some development. • Sarbananda Sonowal - Minister of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent Charge) - He represents Assam and is a lok sabha MP from Lakhimpur. • Dr.Jitendra Singh - Minister of Science and Technology (Independent Charge), Minister of Earth Sciences (Independent Charge), Prime Minister Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space - He is representing Jammu Kashmir in the Modi Ministry and is elected from Udhampur in lok sabha election 2014. He is MP from Ghazipur, UP. • G M Siddeshwara - MoS Civil Aviation - He was rewarded with Ministerial berth for his massive victory with a margin of more than 5 lacs from Devangare, Karnataka in lok sabha election 2014. • Nihalchand - MoS Chemicals and Fertilizers - He is a Rajya sabha member from Rajasthan and in the initial list his name was not there but seeing no representation from Rajasthan, a state which gave all 25 seats to BJP, his name was included after recommendation of Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje. • Krishan Pal Gujjar - MoS Road/surface Transport, Highways and Shipping - He is from Haryana and won from Faridabad lok sabha constituency with a record margin of more than 6 lakhs votes. • Kiren Rijiju - MoS Home Affairs - He represents North East Arunachal Pradesh and won from Arunachal West constituency. He is second youngest Minister after Smriti Irani. • Sanjeev Kumar Baliyan - MoS Agriculture, Food Processing Industries - He is from most sensitive lok sabha constituency Muzaffernagar of UP and had also campaigned for Modi at Varanasi. He was awarded by Ministerial berth in the centre. • Mansukhbhai Dhanjibhai Vasava - MoS Tribal Affairs - He is the lone representation from state Gujarat and won from Bharuch lok sabha constituency. • Raosaheb Dadarao Danve - MoS Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution - He represents Maharashtra and won from Jalna lok sabha constituency of Maharashtra from BJP. • Vishnu Deo Sai - MoS Mines, steel and MoS labour and employment - He represents Chhattisgarh state and won election from Raigarh lok sabha constituency, Chhattisgarh. • Sudarshan Bhagat - MoS Social Justice and Empowerment - After the election result everyone was meeting central leaders for their chances in Ministry, Sudarshan Bhagat is an exception as he got call from Narendra Modi to come to Delhi and as per sources after getting the call he went to market to buy new cloths for oath ceremony. Such a simple person will grace the Ministry of Modi. He is from Jharkhand and won election from Lohardagga constituency. • Upendra Kushwaha - MoS Rural development, Panchayati raj and MoS drinking water and sanitation - He is representing Bihar and is from from Rashtriya Jan Samata Party, a party who left JDU and joined with BJP in NDA as a part of NDA. He got 3 seats and won in all the three. Upendra Kushwaha himself won from Karakat, Bihar.
